About

Etanya Empowerment services

Etanya Empowerment services was established 2016. “Etanya “is a Swahili name that means Place of Hope. This name is aligned to the organization’s vision (bringing hope to the hopeless).

In complete sync with the spirit of empowerment, since January 2016 we have observed around our communities that there is high rate of unemployment and a need to empower youth and communities with Psychosocial skills and economic empowerment skills to improve their livelihoods.

Our journey began with engaging people who were both unemployed and had started their own business but failed. We conducted focus group discussion to understand their challenges and the feedback indicated that they needed guidance and support (hand holding). The feedback also proved that they lack knowledge and skills in the field as well as financial help and life skills to start they business. The latter showed that there is need to teach and instill positive values at a younger stage so that they can be able to make informed decision when they are older.
